Football Federation Australia (FFA) presented their bid to host the 2015 AFC Asian Cup.
AFC President Mohamed Bin Hammam received the dark brown-coloured, hard-bound bid book from FFA Chairman Frank Lowy, with AFC Vice-President Zhang Jilong, AFC General Secretary Alex Soosay and FFA CEO and General Secretary Ben Buckley joining them in front of an audience, comprising members of the AFC Executive and members of the media.
“We at the FFA are dedicated, honoured and privileged to make AFC Asian Cup bigger, better and more successful than the previous editions,” Lowy was quoted as saying by AFC's official website.
Bin Hammam appreciated the personal interest taken by Lowy in showcasing Australia’s bid for the 16th instalment.
The AFC President added: “I would like to thank FFA for their strong interest in hosting AFC’s flagship tournament.
Looking forward to the Doha edition, the AFC chief hoped that Australia would get over their World Cup disappointment, saying, “I hope Australia will re-invent themselves and put on a good performance in my hometown Qatar who are hosting the 15th edition of the AFC Asian Cup next year.”
The next step in the journey towards 2015 takes place during the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2011™ Finals when the AFC Executive Committee meets on the sidelines to put their final stamp of approval on the hosts of the next edition.
