GoalNepal.com has established the 'Gyalgen Lama Award' in memory of the student of Mangaldeep Secondary School who died tragically while playing in the Coca Cola Cup Inter School Boys Football Tournament.
Jigme Gyaljen Lama, 15, an eighth grader, died due to sudden cardiac arrest while playing in the tournament on Monday.
The award will be given to the most promising player (U-19) of the year from this year onwards.
The annual award will carry a purse of Rs 5,000 and a trophy engraved with name of Gyalgen Lama.
Meanwhile, GoalNepal is also driving a relief collection campaign for late Lama. More than Rs 20,000 have been collected so far and the website will hand over the money to the bereaved family on the 13th day rituals of Gyalgen's death.
Nepal Football Players Association is also assisting in the fund collection
Upon establishing the award, GoalNepal.com CEO, Bikram Thapa said, “We are still mourning over the untimely death of Gyalgen. We have established this award in a memory of him. The award will be given every year to the promising player”.
