GoalNepal.com - Red Bull A Division League: Big Guns Fail To Deliver; Underdogs Shine - First Round Analysis

The first round of Red Bull A Division League concluded on Friday with Machhindra FC topping the group with three points and better goal difference.

Total 8 matches were played in which total 28 goals were scored in a ratio of 3.5 goals in every match.

Big Guns Fail To Deliver

After winning two major knockout titles; Ncell Cup & 2nd Safal Pokhara Cup, Laxmi Hyundai MMC locked horns with fighting CMG Sankata Club while defending champions, Nepal Police Club were stopped at 1-1 draw by newbie Iceberg Madhyapur Youth Association.

Three Star club suffered a major set back as they surprisingly went down 1-2 to Simrik Saraswati Youth Club.

Underdogs shine

CMG Sankata Club, Iceberg Madhyapur and Simrik Saraswati Youth Club are notable clubs who performed well in the first round.

Sankata and IMYA are the newly promoted clubs to top flight.

Sankata club didn't give up quickly as they restored parity with their hard work against LH MMC. Iceberg MYA looked spirited and also took a playful lead in the very first minute but they conceded the levelling goal right after the break and they played too deep down in the second half.

Simrik SYC stunned Three Star club 2-1 thanks to fragile defense line of Lalitpur based club.

The winners; New Road Team, Machhindra FC, Yeti Himalayan Sherpa, McDowells RCT played an average game but they must be happy with a winning note.

Nepal Army were left completely frustrated with a draw that they played against NIBL Friends.

The losers - Mahindra Bansbari FC, Samsung JYC, Boudha FC and Armed Police Force need a reality check and they must act quickly as to strengthen their squad to avoid relegation battle.

However, there are still 14 rounds matches to be played and nothing can be said until we go to the last round matches.

Highest Goal Scorer: Segun Akindae - 3 Goals (NRT)
